Applying to Ontario college Are you ready to apply to Ontario college? Whether you need to upgrade your education or change your career, going back to college is one way to do it. Now start to gather all your information and get ready to apply.

Here are steps and necessary information about how to apply to Ontario college.

Apply to Ontario college

1. Go to www.ontariocolleges.ca (OCAS) to apply.

Go to Ontariocolleges.ca website to sign up for an online account. You need to provide your given name, last name, date of birth, email address, password and complete the challenge questions. You are not allowed to create multiple accounts at ontariocolleges.ca. If you want to change some important information on your account, you need to contact their Customer Contact Centre for help because you can’t change certain information yourself.

2. Transcripts

If your credentials are from abroad, you need to have them assessed by credential assessment organizations either at www.wes.org or www.icascanada.ca. To read more about this information, you can visit the website.

3. Complete your profile information at OCAS website

Click on “My application” tabs and choose which year you want to start college and choose the program that interest you the most. It is better to apply early before the program closed. Your account at ontarioclleges.ca will remain on the file even though you have been accepted to the college. You don’t need to create a new account if you need to apply to college in the future. After you complete your profile information, you then need to pay the application fee. The fee is $95.00 for up to five program of your choices with no more than three program options at one college. 4. Proof of English proficiency

If your first language is not English, you need to provide a proof of English proficiency such as presenting TOEFL, IELTS, MELAB, or CAEL result and meet the score requirements. If You don’t pass the English test, you can try another alternative such as applying for English program at the college of your choice to help you improve your English skills. After you pass and complete the English, you then can apply to a program of your choice at the college.

5. Wait for the offer

You may need to be patient waiting for the offer If you apply for highly competitive programs. If you are not on the waiting list, you will likely get an offer after few days or weeks. You can confirm the offer if you wish or wait for another offer from your favorite college.

6. Get accepted

The college will send you an official acceptance letter within a week after you accept the offer.

7. Get ready to attend the first day of your school.

The first day of school is usually an orientation day. It is the day where you will meet most of your instructors. You need to attend this orientation day if you are new to the college so that you have time to explore the college and get to know your class and professors.

The information may not apply to international students, students in different provinces, or students who are applying to master, Ph.D., medicine or law program. They may have different application process.
